We feel good when we help someone. But The LampPost Project is probably the first to let you look good while doing good. Because it transforms National Day lamppost banners and flags into reversible tote bags that are then sold to raise funds for less privileged Singaporeans.
Ever wondered what happens to the thousands of lamppost banners and flags that are produced for our National Day celebrations? Well we did! And that’s how The LampPost Project started.
It gives these lamppost banners and flags a new lease of life by turning them into tote bags. The tote bags are sewn by less privileged Singaporeans who could do with a little help from all of us.
The tote bags are sold to you and the funds raised go to the very people who made the bags.
Simple. Lightweight. Practical. And unique.
Each LampPost bag is individually cut and stitched from recycled lamppost banners.
No alteration is made to the original design; they are simply re-imagined (we think that adds to their appeal).
The result? Reversible tote bags with a fresh, modern sensibility that are perfect for everyday use. And, we should add, very Instagram-friendly!
Here’s the best bit. The funds raised from selling these tote bags will benefit two organisations.
The Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) helps persons with mental illness re-integrate into society. The LOOMs Workshops is a social enterprise supporting women in disadvantage circumstances.
We hope to raise $10,000 for these two organisations through the sale of the LampPost bags. So, go get your hands on one of these bags. It’s the cool thing to do.
